Does Level Six Exist?

Larry muses hypothetical about the possible existence of a level of drinking above level five! Does it have something to do with fractals or worm holes? Or just a hole in your head? String theorists, take a powder, chumps!

We also get a brief history of boy tenors and other vaudeville schtick, a safety razor update and of course, the joke of the week.

Stay tuned past the 42:00 minute mark for a little bonus — Larry’s reaction to this photo being put up on the studio monitor:

Isn’t “gee, someone should really take a look at that,” right out of a Seinfeld episode?

Larry’s shaver brigade needs to check the “Look Sharp March” (1958) for Gillette c/o youtube.com/watch?v=C6cyy_rziuk starting at the 41 second mark. Words (care of mudcat.org) are:
To look sharp every time you shave,
To feel sharp and be on the ball,
To be sharp, use Gillette Blue Blades,
It’s the quickest, slickest shave of all!

I nominate this march as Larry’s new intro. (Larry, back me up here, you remember this)

I think that costume is what was known as a “Buster Brown” suit. The kid on Buster Brown shoes looked like that, didn’t he?

Great show Larry, the mystery of the sixth step revealed!
…Does getting woken up by a stranger in the bed of your own truck while the car is running qualify? Part of the mystery of the sixth step is trying to remember the how’s, why’s, and sometimes, the where in the Hell’s?!?!
    Happy Holidays, everyone!

Besser and Joey Bishop did a bit on The Joey Bishop Show that can be seen on Youtube. I was just watching it two days ago. It is strangely funny. Besser plays Joey’s landlord that lost five pounds and deserved an interview and a hand shack…Check it out won’t you?

As a big fan of “old time radio” and especially Jack Benny, enjoyed the explanation about boy tenors and Dennis Day. And speaking of old time radio and Warner Bros cartoons, remember that many other characters were parodied in Bugs Bunny shorts, most likely because their star, Mel Blanc, appeared on most of the radio comedy programs of that era. Remember Bugs as a train conductor announcing “next stop…Kukamonga!” This was Mel Blanc himself’s conductor character from the Jack Benny show.

But I digress…love the show, love Larry Miller. Happy Holidays to you all.

Remember the old Don Knots movies he made after he left the Andy Griffith show. The best one was “The Ghost and Mr. Chicken”. There is a great classic line in that movie where Luther (Don Knotts) is making a speech in front of a crowd and somebody in the crowd yells “Atta boy Luther”

There is a Farrelly Brothers movie (I forget which one) where there is someone talking in front of a crowd and somebody in the crowd yells “Atta boy Luther” and the guy speaking was not named Luther. I died laughing knowing it was a reference to “The Ghost and Mr. Chicken”. I doubt many other people except people who love Don Knots got the reference. I love when they put in little known references in movie’s like that. Your story of the Joe Besser character reminded me of the Don Knotts reference.
