The Greatest Story Never Told

Larry once again never gets around to telling his Valentine’s Day stories — or half of the things he planned on talking about on this episode.

Show Summary

Hear the latest update on the status of the Larry Miller Drinking Society membership cards! Then Larry explains what exactly a self-addressed stamped envelope is and muses on the proper way to pronounce the word “envelope,” without giving a definitive answer.

Have you ever wished you could recite the Green Lantern oath with a celebrity? Well, charge up your ring, top off your rocks glass and get ready to recite along with Larry.

What does Larry love more than a marching band? Possibly a dotted line.

Larry talks extensively about the absurd amount of over-thinking that he put into a box of pretzels given to him by a fan at his show in Washington, DC. He explains that liquor is a gateway drug. It leads to pretzels.

We also hear about Larry ordering a HUGE glass of scotch, which someone else enjoyed very much.

Quote of the week: “I continue to be a nearly perfect lunkhead.”

    Greetings my fellow LMDS pretzels.
I guess the T-shirts were a way to cope with the trauma.
I can totally see that being a sick s.o.b myself.
But with me it is your pod that keeps me going another week.
So maybe there is truth in laughter being the best medicine, coupled with a pint or 2 of hard liquor.

    Have a nice pretzel.

“Capital podcast, Mr. Miller” (said in my best ol’ timey accent).
I just had to say your discussion with Adam last week about old school gay porn was fantastic. I was laughing so hard, I had to keep rewinding to hear everything.
If you could turn that into a recurring role, it could be comic gold.
Forget hypothetical road trip, start doing vintage gay pornstar interviews.
By the way, the LMDS is thriving in eastern Montana, with myself and a bottle of whiskey holding down the fort. Yes it’s cold and lonely out here, but we have each other, and Mr. Miller guiding us to the light (god’s flashlight).

I was listening to Larry’s Valentine podcast this morning on the way in. He mentioned that getting together with folks might be the best we can be. That reminds of me a really great quote from Fyodor Dostoyevsky in ‘The Brothers Karamazof’. It goes thusly:

And even if we are occupied with most important things, if we attain to honour or fall into great misfortune — still let us remember how good it was once here, when we were all together, united by a good and kind feeling which made us, for the time we were loving that poor boy, better perhaps than we are.

Larry, you are now officially my #1 crush! I love you! Probably the nicest man in show business! One question, the martinis in the mason jar, did she bring glasses and olives on picks as well?
