Larry, Jeff and Chris – Just wanted to say that I love the show. I can hardly wait for Tuesdays (and now I guess Wednesdays) to hear the show. Love the work you’re doing and wanted to say that if you offered the LMDS card in the Ace Broadcasting merchandise section of the site, I would love to buy it. I’m sure many of us would be willing to put some money in your pockets for the great podcast. Anyway, keep up the good work! And Larry, Happy New Year Buddy!

Lol, reading it over now, it does sound like I’m working for them but I do like these podcasts and if there was a small fee to listen I wouldn’t mind it. I blow $10 on Netflix a month for movies and I get way more entertainment from these podcasts. I just don’t want to see these go away because there’s no money in it.

Another wonderful podcast. Your insights and humor make my work day on Wednesdays that much better. All LMDS members should hoist a drink, or a homemade brew to honor a friend and confidant.

I heard about your woes regarding the screeners of The Fighter piling up around your home on Adam’s podcast. I may have a solution for you that will help me equally as much as, if not more than, it does you. You see, I am a poor college student and would greatly appreciate it if you would send me a copy or two. I wanted to see it badly but never got to due to monetary restrictions. Let me know.

Maybe Larry should take that stolen hemp laundry bag with him on his next trip. That way he won’t have to steal again.

Great episode title btw. Especially for a Michigan listener like me. My own soap policy has always been to take an old bar when it becomes unusable and graft it to the new one. You have to use the new bar once so it’s wet enough for a successful grafting. I’ve never had more than one soap chip to use for a parley because I’m the only one who uses bar soap.

By the way, you said your father used to take home as much beer as he could carry when he worked at the brewery. That’s actually a long standing tradition called the sternworth privilege. Originally it had that all brewery workers were allowed to drink while on the job. I’m guessing that the lawyers got rid of that idea and in it’s place the brewery let the employees take home as much as they could carry.

You’ll also be happy to know that I have spoken to an anheuser busch driver or two and they say at the end of the day if any 6-packs or cases have any broken bottles in them, the drivers can take home the undamaged ones. So something like that is still around.

I do have a slight disagreement with your statement that using hotel soap bars in the Fivefecta does not take away from it.

The problem I see, is that by using the smaller soap bars you can make the sculpture much quicker – perhaps within a few weeks.

If you were to use full-sized, or even family sized, bars of … say … Irish Spring – it would take much longer – possiby a year or two.

Anyway – Keep up the good work, and I look forward to becoming a card-carrying member.

I never thought I’d say it, but Larry, you put the entire universe in perspective with those five slivers of soap.

My boyfriend would rather use a fingernail size bar of Dial than touch my Dove bar. Says it makes him feels slimy. Men! I swear! :-)

I liked Larry saying, no matter what, we all have to chant the “30 days hath September,” and such things to help us remember stuff.

Another one: stalagmites and stalactites. I can always remember which is which, because of what a tour guide at Mammoth Cave said. He said, just remember “The mites go up, and the tights go down.” So I can always quote that to myself, and I remember, stalagmites point up, stalactites point down.

Really great, really fun(ny) podcast! By the way, if you and the kids really like Coke as much as I do, get the Coke sweetened with sugar. That’s right, real sugar. I saw it in Costco the other day. That’s all I could get (and loved it) when I lived in South America. Most other countries don’t have the corn like we do so they sweeten with sugar. Thanks, Uncle Lar’.

Great show as usual larry! As a former frequent flier, I have to wonder about the bags you drag arround. Are they Carrot Tops bags before he moved on to trunks. Most modern bags come with a garment bag (drawstring or zipper) for your dirty laundry.

As co-editor with Steve Cahn and Barry Haimes of the Shower Hockey Monthly which-came-out-weekly, I was thrilled to hear your recent podcast mention of our legacy: both the game and the publication. I jsut forwarded a link to this podcast to Steve, who lives very near me in Roslyn Heights.

By the way (to use your favorite phrase)I have a COMPLETE SET of Shower Hockey Monthlies, but I gave the original hand-typed Volume I, Number 1, back to Steve, keeping a copy. He probably lost it…

Doubt we’ll see you at our 40 year class reunion this fall, but I’ll be attending with Ellen Herbstman, as I did our 30th. She also lives nearby.

    Keep up the great work.

I was shocked and appalled, listening to the podcase in it’s entirety, to hear that you left out Ed Rosenthal’s name as an equal co-founding editor of the late lamented Shower Hockey Monthly (which, as you noted, was published weekly). But in time, I’m sure I’ll get over it. Your podcast has set in motion plans for the long-awaited reunion of the three founding editors, Barry, Ed and me, and if your podcast creates sufficient interest, we will be reprinting a limited edition of the coffee-table book “Shower Hockey – Get the Puck Outta Here.”
Nice job on these casts, Larry.
