Drive By Eggings

Larry’s crackpot theories include why we should start making ’57 Chevys again, why a dog can make your wife happy and the miraculous effects of going to bed sober.

Tales of massive candy binges and drive by eggings make Larry nostalgic for his childhood and make him wonder when he stopped liking Halloween.

Larry also reads off some international fan mail. We finally hear from our listener in Guam and hilarity ensues.

Hi there Larry, Chris, Jeff and Donny. A big hi from New Zealand. I am one of the ten from New Zealand! Really enjoy Larry’s stuff – great to hear him long-form as I’m unlikely to see Larry perform from the other side of the planet. The podcast is a great way to spread the gospel. I’m in Christchurch and we had a big earthquake last month :-( but a big highlight of last month was finding the Larry Miller Podcast! Keep up the good work and where can I apply for the drinking society ID card? Paul OOTT

As a proud member of The LMDS in Iceland I hereby put in an official request for a longer Pod. We here in Iceland tend to not get drunk enough with the current format, although we do laugh Wholeheartedly.

I second that. I really think for a show that’s only once a week you cannot cover everything in half an hour. We need at least an hour of this… whatever it is.

    Gentlemen,
I’m a loyal listener in Portland, OR. Love the show, wish it was a little bit longer. Your intro music and closing line never fail to make me smile. I’ve frightened a few people by laughing out loud at the show. I’m sure they thought I was some sort of lunatic. Keep up the exemplary work!

Another Portland listener! I hoist in a pint in your general direction good sir.

Larry, I love the fabric you weave with your threads of brilliance. Keep up the great work!

I’m a Vancouver, WA listener, so we are neighbors. And I have done the same thing, as in laughing loudly in the middle of a grocery store or on the MAX. People look at you like you are nuts, and I pity them for not hearing Larry and being able to laugh along.

It makes me kinda sad that Larry only does this once a week. But one day if Larry is certainly better than no days of Larry.

I’m all in on the LMDS! We need bumper stickers that say LMDS and, instead of the guy with the trumpet (like on the LDS stickers) we could have a guy throwing back a bottle…what do you think?

i enjoy the show and have a recommendation for all members of the drinking society…..take a shot (or just a drink) every time Larry says “by the way”. it gets fun.

I agree wholeheartedly, LMDS cards need to get made asap.

We also need a sort of secret sign between members, so that we can find safe havens in different parts of the world when needed. You never know when the police in Guam can be trying to frame you for some crime….

Rest assured, LMDS membership cards are in the works!!! As soon as they are available, we’ll let you know!

Hey Jeff! Set up Larry with a portable recorder so when he travels he
can record musings and insert as part of the show. Perhaps he could interview people he meets on the road. Maybe you could get a keyboard
at ACE so he could play a bit of patter while podcasting. Enjoy the show
and his bits on Adam’s show. Could Jim Carolla be a guest someday and
    talk about music?

Another Portland, OR listener. Love the show, Larry! I was cracking up this morning when you were going over the slip into the 5 levels of drinking when headed to your hotel room in Utah. As an engineer, I hope the engineers or gay bar line got a good laugh.

I think this is a better translation for “do you call that a double?” Dicis, ut duplex?

  20. Latin Guy
    2010/10/30 at 8:09 pm #

Hey Larry, you still don’t have a good translation for, “You call that a double?” in Latin. I’ve read the others and they are not correct.

    Here’s one that’s correct:

    num nominas istud duplex???

A literal translation, “Surely you don’t call that thing of yours a double”

    dear mr. miller –

i love what you’re doing… and am so happy that you chose to give your time (as i would assume the pay isn’t commiserate w/ your standard base) to the fans. your contribution does not go without notice and praise.

seattles’ jewish contingent is meager at best and since i didn’t see anyone addressing the schindler’s list “red coat” comment, i thought i’d give my perspective. not to get too serious, as this may have been part of your bit – to me the red coat was a symbol of all of the children murdered in gruesome slaughter of over 6 million. i call it a slaughter, as the holocaust (in literal terms) means a burnt offering… inferring that those murdered gave their lives as a sacrifice to g@#. i’m merely agreeing w/ Isaac Asimov here.

the red coast also allows the viewer to follow the little girl throughout the movie, who ultimately is shown in a pile of 100’s of dead jews.

again, keep up the excellent work. you bring a smile and at times an out of control laughter to my day, and that means so much to me. i’m sure your multiple thousands of listeners feel the same.

health and happiness to you and your family – moe

As a recovering alcoholic (from this weekend) I’d like to know where I can sign up for the Larry Miller Drinking Club. Laughed my ass off at the pig latin idea but think it has to be Engrish or Latin. Maybe an attempt at a Masonic symbolism on the members card like a tiny jewish star but it’s upside down or reversed imaged.

You’re the everyman’s everyman. You’re that guy everybody recognizes and says I should know that guy. In a sense you’re the Yin to Erik Estrada’s Yang. You are the quintessential Protestant/Catholic working father/administrator/straight man. You’re old school. You’re the guy everybody says “I should know that guy. Anyway big fan of you going way back. Glad I finally know you.

Crackpot? I thought it was a good idea. Making 57 Chevys. Of course a chef is always willing to give out a recipe because a person will always make their own modifications to the recipe so it is never exactly like how the chef would do it so ergo the recipe is not the same. The new 57 Chevy would end up looking like a Ford Focus.
